Description
For much of this charming excursion, the Wiltz cycle route runs parallel to the river of the same name.
The scenery may change with the seasons, but this country route has a constant attraction. The green valleys that greet you with their profound calm and seclusion are typical for the Ardennes area. In the surrounding neighbourhood, you will enjoy some sumptuous views, especially around Kautenbach (Uewerschleed and Hockslee). Medieval enthusiasts take note! A train connection transports you to the Castle of Bourscheid, which perches regally over the Sûre Valley. To complete the experience, though, remember to head to the Grenglee vantage point opposite to get the best views of the castle.
The town of Wiltz, also known as the Capital of the Ardennes, is essential viewing. With its landmark monumental staircase leading down to the gardens. the castle has served as the backdrop for the renowned European Open-Air Theatre and Music Festival Festival de Wiltz every year since the 1950s.
As our guests, we’re anxious to show you only the very best! After leaving Wiltz, your route takes you through beautiful forests and fields, steering you clear of any roads whilst never straying too far from the river Wiltz.
And even though the journey ends at the gateway to Belgium, some of you may want to meet the neighbours! Continue over the border for a few kilometres to Bastogne, where you can join the cycle network of the Belgian Ardennes.
