Getting ready

  • Take a light rucksack with everything you need: drinks, food, first-aid kit and a change of clothes. Please note that some stages are quite isolated and offer few opportunities for refreshments.
  • Check the weather forecast: in the event of heavy rain, some sections may be slippery and others flooded. We therefore recommend that you adapt your equipment accordingly.
  • Mobile network: Please note that some parts of the route are so isolated that they have little or no mobile network coverage. So remember to download maps onto your phone or GPS, or take paper maps with you.
  •  Book your accommodation: If you're planning to hike for several days at a time, we advise you to book your accommodation in advance, to make sure it's available.
  •  Check public transport: Bear in mind that timetables may vary at weekends or on public holidays, as well as during school holidays.
  • Think about the hunting season: Are you planning to visit Escapardenne in autumn? Check that there is no hunting in the areas you will be passing through!
  • Respect nature! When you hike the Escapardenne, you'll almost always find yourself in nature reserves. So always take your waste with you, don't pick flowers and respect the animals around you.
  • Be courteous! The hiking trails belong to everyone. So be courteous to other walkers and cyclists you may meet along the way.

Lee Trail

In the heart of Éislek, the Lee Trail takes you on an exploration of the schist ridges and rocky outcrops so characteristic of this region in the north of the country. Indeed, in Luxembourgish, ‘Lee’ means rocky ridge, which is one of the distinctive aspects of this long-distance hike. Other highlights include the Gringlee viewpoint and Molberlee ridges, as well as typical villages such as Dirbach or Erpeldange-sur-Sûre.
